Curriculum Vitae

Dr. László Sándor Chardonnens (Rozenburg, 1973), received his M.A. in English Language and Literature at Leiden University. He received his doctorate from the Faculty of Arts at Leiden University in 2006 with a dissertation on the Anglo-Saxon prognostics. He is a university lecturer in medieval English at Radboud University Nijmegen, and is currently a research fellow of the International Consortium for Research in the Humanities, at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. He participates in the international research project "Storehouses of Wholesome Learning: Accumulation and Dissemination of Encyclopaedic Knowledge in the Early Middle Ages", and in the research programme "Christian Cultural Heritage" of the Institute for Historical, Literary and Cultural Studies at Radboud University Nijmegen. He has been awarded a four-year postdoctoral research fellowship by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research for the project "From Science to Popular Culture: Artes magicae in England between the Scriptorium and the Printing Press, 1200-1500", to commence in September 2010. His research interests are written culture and the transmission of utilitarian, scientific and magical knowledge in the medieval West, particularly in England.
